Recent wildlife....

This exquisite little slow worm was hiding under a pot until yesterday....

We often have visits from both green, and greater spotted woodpeckers in the garden....  we've been leaving dead wood on the trees, and on the ground to encourage insects to breed which attracts the birds.

Wild ducks seem to like the pond....

...and laid these eggs in the woods - sadly they didn't survive to hatch out.

Mudbath...

If you look quickly you might think we had gained a fourth pig, but no it's just Ian having a wallow in the mud back at the beginning of May.  Not for fun I should add, but because we inadvertantly located them on the line of a broken field drain which well and truly overflowed during the 'rainy season'.  They certainly didn't complain, but we had a mudbath sorting it out.
